Feed and Teach Children’s Ministry Inc

Feed and Teach – A Children’s Ministry to Davao, Philippines

This special ministry has been started by a member of our church, Ida Andrade. For the past several years Ida has reached out back in her hometown to help those she knows can use a little extra help. Ida with the help of Pastor Paquito Labiton and a small group of dedicated Christian volunteers in Davao, has provided food for groups of children who gather once or twice a month to hear Bible stories, sing songs and memorize scripture verses.

Davao is the second largest city in the Philippines located on the southern island of Mindanao. The Feed and Teach program started with one small group of children and now has over 18 different locations in and around Davao. The teach and feeds are led by volunteers from many surrounding churches who are passionate about spreading the love of Jesus to many of the young people who live in the marginal areas of the city. One such group is called the Bridge people. These are families who have come from the outlying countryside and struggle to get by in the big city while living under one of the many bridges in Davao.

This year Ida has set a goal of sending 900 pairs of flip flops and sets of underwear at Christmas time for the children participating in the Feed and teach programs.

2019 update:

In 2019 Feed and Teach continues to minister to over 800 kids in many poor areas in Mindanao, Philippines. The residents under the bridge are now coming regularly to church . We were able to buy 600 pairs of flip-flops and 850 pcs. of kids  underwear which were distributed  by our volunteers. A couple of months ago, the church building of one of our outreach partners was destroyed by flood and only the roof remained.
This Month feature: Waan, Davao City  Outreach under Mrs. Nenalyn Tumabini…Mrs. Tumabini is a public school teacher and she holds her  Feeding and teaching in her classroom once a month. Four of her fellow teachers are helping her with cooking the food , in crafts and games with the kids. Many mothers in this outreach  are also participating together with their children in memorizing scripture verses and also in doing crafts. Halleluja.
